Abstract:Application of KM framework on organizational effectiveness facilitates organization to sustain competitive challenges in the new business environment characterized by dynamic, discontinuous and radical pace of change. There is a realization that competitive advantage could be gained only through leveraging intellectual capital or knowledge residing in the mind of organizational workforce. The knowledge based business has become a major strategy of an organization in this competitive world to sustain its growth. An organization capacity to improve its existing skills offers the most defensible competitive advantage of all. The decisive competitive factor in the knowledge society will be the acquisition and application of knowledge. This paper describes the study on work practices of a medium-sized fast growing pharmaceutical organization. The practice of following knowledge management based system implemented by the company is discussed. A model in the form of "Knowledge Tree" was developed for the company that identifies the basic steps that company lays stress on while concentrating on its implementation. The general agreement amongst all participants in the present study is that knowledge management is a matter of people and culture for the organizational effectiveness.
