Abstract:We investigate the effect of clustering on the magnetic and thermal properties of (MnxN) clusters at finite temperature. The interaction between the clusters is treated using a mean-field approach while the intra-cluster exchange coupling parameters are obtained from density functional calculations. We show that there is a strong dependence of magnetization on temperature and external field, and high ferromagnetic transition temperatures are possible for reasonable strengths of the inter-cluster interaction, resulting from clustering effects.
