Abstract:Recently several authors carried out nonlinear wave simulations to study the coastal wave properties and they all used JONSWAP spectra as the first-order spectra. Meanwhile Tayfun (1990) stated that the first-order wave spectra should have f-8 or f-9 high frequency tail so that the second-order spectra may have a high frequency part of f-4 or f-5. We performed the second-order unidirectional and multi-directional simulations by changing the first-order spectra and calculating conditions to investigate the effects of nonlinearity on the wave statistics as well as on second-order wave spectra.
