| Abstract: | Artificial reefs are increasingly used as an active shore protection measure. Nevertheless, the physical processes occurring at these structures are still not well understood. Existing design formulae mostly take into account only a few of the governing parameters and do only account for the change in wave height over the reef. Based on a comprehensive literature review and subsequently conducted physical model tests an analytical model has been developed which proves to have a broader range of application than existing analytical models. |
