| Abstract: | Physical experiments are carried out to clarify fundamental characteristics of the reflection of an obliquely incident strong bore from an inclined wall, which has been observed to be caused by a tsunami. An approximate theory of the bore reflection is developed, which includes the existing oblique hydraulic jump theory and can estimate the reflected bore heights, bore propagation velocities, angle of the reflected bore front line on the upstream side to a line perpendicular to the shoreline and so on. |
