| Abstract: | This paper introduced results of the field test of the GPS buoy wave observation conducted off the Ofunato-Port in Japan faced to the Northern Pacific Ocean at 53m deep. To secure good accuracy of the buoy motion measurement with cm order, RTK-system was applied with one on-land GPS station, 2km far from the GPS buoy. Vertical and two components of horizontal buoy motion were recorded with one-second interval continuously. Observed data were compared with coastal wave observation network data of acoustic sensors and coastal tide station data. The GPS buoy successfully observed ocean waves with wide frequency ranges from wind waves with a few seconds period to astronomical tides with one or half day period, including tsunamis and storm surges [note: http://www.tsunamigps.com and http://www.pari.go.jp/bsh/ky-skb/kaisyo/]. | |
