| Abstract: | Tsunamis water water waves generated by the movement of an underwater land-slide are simulated using the numerical model Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics. SPH is presented in detail, introducing some recent developments and contributions applied in the present work. Water waves generated by underwater landslides have been studied comparing SPH results and physical model experiments, which have been carried out using a semi-elliptical shaped landslide sliding down an inclined ramp. Results demonstrate SPH potentialities in the study and forecasting of real cases underwater landslide generated waves. |
