| Abstract: | PbS nanoparticles have been prepared via a colloidal route and were incorporated into silica-titania or hybrid organic-inorganic sol-gel films. X-ray defraction showed the presence of crystalline particles with 3-4 nm diameter. Strong quantum confinement was revealed by the large blue shift of the optical absorption offset. Strong photoluminescence emission was found when pumping at 514 nm. A saturated optical non linearity was observed with a nonlinear refractive index n2 of the order of 10−11 cm2/W. |
