Abstract:In this work a new technique for domain imaging in ferroelectric materials is shown. A combination of scanning electron microscope (SEM) and atomic force microscope (AFM) in which the electron beam and the cantilever interact with the sample simultaneously is used. Since both are acting only at the sample surface, surface acoustic waves (SAW) are generated and detected. With these waves the ferroelectric domain structure in BaTiO3 can be made visible.
