Abstract:Due to high wave energy dissipation of wave-mud interaction, the common 2D horizontal hydrodynamic models for the simulation of wave field can not be applied to muddy coasts. The present study offers a multi-layered numerical model to simulate the wave transformation on 2D horizontal plane under regular waves. Time dependent mild slope equations are employed including the combined wave refraction, diffraction and breaking. A series of wave basin experiments have been performed to obtain the required data for the verification of the numerical model.
