Abstract:The CLEO collaboration and CESR accelerator physicists are proposing to convert CESR to operate in the charm threshold region. The achievable CESR luminosities and the excellent capabilities of the CLEO III detector would open a new frontier of exploration of weak and strong interaction physics. The principal goals of this program include: searches for glue-rich exotic states, searches for new physics, and challenging lattice QCD calculations with precise experimental data.
